Sponsored legislation allowing high school juniors to be appointed judges of election, passed and signed by the Governor, now State Law

 

Introduced Resolution to make Voting Rights Act Permanent, passed and signed by Governor

 

Sponsored the National Popular Vote Act, HB1685, an interstate agreement that would guarantee that the winner of the national popular vote is elected president.  This act would award Illinois' Electoral College votes to the candidate that wins the national popular vote, provided that enough states equaling a majority of electoral votes also ratify the agreement.  Signed into Law April 7, 2008, Public Act 95-0714
